Topic: The Mole Series 13 in South Africa [English subtitles]

Omdat sommige mensen zich afvroegen of we dit jaar weer de intentie hebben de afleveringen te vertalen, bij dezen een nieuw topic en het antwoord: ja dat zijn we inderdaad weer van plan. 

Alvast bij voorbaat dank voor de inspanningen aan Tsubasa en G-root, en twee vrienden van me die niet op de site aanwezig zijn. Mochten er meer mensen zijn die af en toe een stukje voor rekening willen nemen, stuur me gerust een pm, dan neem ik het mee in de planning.

Wanneer e.e.a. online komt zal per week een beetje verschillen door drukte en andere beslommeringen, maar in principe streven we ernaar de aflevering aan het einde van het weekend of maandag af te hebben en hier online te zetten.

Veel plezier met de Mollenjacht ook voor onze internationale vrienden. 


Some people were wondering if we have the intention of translating and subtitling episodes again this year, so here's the new topic for it and the answer to that question: Yes indeed we plan to do so. 

I would like thank Tsubasa and G-root as well as two other friends not on this site for their efforts, in advance. Should more people like to help us translate every now and then, they can contact me via pm so I can plan ahead.

It will vary slightly when the episodes will be online depending on how busy everyone is per week, but we intend to be finished with them by the end of the weekend in most cases, hopefully.

I hope everyone will have fun with the Mole hunt, including our friends abroad.

Excuus voor de vertraging!
Helaas crashte mijn laptop toen ik net de puntjes op de i aan het zetten was zondagavond. 
Maar goed een passend begin van de 13e serie zullen we maar zeggen en hopelijk blijft het daarbij. 
Inmiddels gewapend met nieuwe laptop ( ) en alles opnieuw vertaald hebbende, geëdit en samengevoegd kunnen we jullie met plezier aflevering 1 van 'Wie is de Mol?' in Zuid Afrika aanbieden.

Yeah, I feel the same. We Dutch people may not be very prissy/prudish, this kind of words isn't unheard of on television but I've never heard such words in any American/British game shows nor in amusement shows.

Not that I feel I need to justify any of the choices made by respective translators...
I'm just answering this as an FYI.

I thought about this too and I felt offense might be taken to this word quite easily in other cultures.
Molefans from around the world are watching this series, and they're not exactly used to the Dutch 'directness'(i.e. in some cases perceived as bluntness or even rudeness) as we are, so I felt a neutral description would be best suited in this case and agreed with the translator offering it.

Translation isn't a 'scientific' study and some leniency should be granted especially concerning interpretation, cultural differences and idiomatic expressions.

This is the last I have to say about this. Any comments about 'shouldn't it be this or that' to me are moot as it serves no purpose.
A lot of subtitling is somewhat subjective and it's in the eye of the beholder how to interpret it. The same applies to things being translated to Dutch on tv.

Ik heb een vraag. Wie moet ik credit geven voor de vertalingen, als ik de youtubefilmpjes aanprijs op een Engelstalige website?

Heb het gepost op Game Maker Community en ben zeer benieuwd of er reacties komen en zo ja wat voor.

(Als het de bedoeling is hier Engels te praten, laat het even weten, dan edit ik mijn bericht met een vertaling)

Hmm yes perhaps it's better to stick to English here though I am not even sure if anyone except Dutch Mole fans read this topic tbh. 

Anyway, it sounds like a cool initiative, hope some people will respond. I love Mole games. 

As for credits, well maybe just make it the 'Mole SubTeam' - or something like that. 
Seriously we're doing this as a team effort. I coordinate stuff and do my share but it's down to the team of people each week to make it happen. 

If they want to watch and comment they are welcome to do so here or on my youtube channel.
But other than that I wouldn't know who to 'credit' this to in particular.
